My First Article – It Was Green And Tasted Fantastic!

pencilsArticle Marketing is one of the cheapest forms of traffic generation in the business. 99.9% of all articles sites are free so you have the ability to utilise free traffic in exchange for a little time and effort. There are a lot of article marketing sites around so the choices are quite infinite to who you would like to spend your time subscribing too, but the traffic benefits can be very good indeed. (I will post a list at the end)

Here is a little scenario for you – It’s Monday and the first thing on my list today is “yeah you guessed it” create an article or two. Now articles are easier in my opinion than a blog post for a couple of reasons:

1, You only need to write around 400 words to be sufficient to submit your articles
2, You can write about any topic you like, but do try to stick to your niche.
3, You can use a cut down blog post or use the Ezine Articles widget to automate your blog  post as an article
4, You can utilize your existing articles as research to create new articles. It’s called flipping and this can be done when submitting to more than one article website to gain more individual articles.
5, You can also use info from your eBooks and research from past ones

So before you get all worried I have just given you five easy ways you can create an article. The whole process should take you no longer than about 30 minutes start to finish. If you set up 5 of these a week your traffic stats will rise.

What if I Can’t Write?

Everyone can write! Granted some can write better than others, hell I don’t claim to be a regular Earnest Hemingway, however if you do have an interest or hobbies then you are half way to achieving your goal of writing articles.

*Remember*

Your hobbies are not necessarily going to be a profitable ones. If your hobby is running a flea circus, then I would hardly think you have a niche for profit, so beware to write about quality niches and profitable ones. Believe it or not one of my first articles was about cooking Thai Green Curry is a killer recipe see if you can find it! (Challenge)

Whatever you write about give it your best shot. Ask a friend or a partner to overlook your work when you have finished. Build on your experience as an article writer and in no time at all your confidence will grow with your writing abilities.

What’s With The Author Bio Section?

Every article website has an Author Bio section. This is a section where you can ‘Get To Know Your Author’ . On the Bio page you will find a description of the author, a Twitter link, Facebook link, but most importantly links to your websites and blog. By just having a few links in your Bio and submitting articles regularly is this going to get you traffic? Of course it is!

That’s not all! Also in your members profile you have a section where you can add a signature. A signature which is the same as your email signature I’m sure you know the type:

Thank you for contacting me

Kind Regards,

Daniel Sumner
== > “Get inside my head” http://www.marketingthroughmyeyes.com

Well this signature will show at the bottom of every article you submit. Imagine you have 20 articles submitted, that’s 20 signatures linking to 1 – 20 of YOUR websites. Search engines love article sites, because there is just so much new content for them to soak up. Your articles will get found and you WILL get traffic from search engines!

Quick Tip:

Set up Google Alerts and a search term which you have in your articles ‘Your Name’ for instance. You will see the alerts come in when you submit your articles http://www.google.com/alerts

Extra Article Tips That Make a Difference

1, Try to link back to something of value from your article bio signature, this way when the reader browses your article they can click the link back to your blog or product and you can achieve a sale or email signup.
2, Don’t expect a flood of traffic overnight, this system is long term and will take time but the rewards will benefit you in the long run so it’s definitely worth doing as the cost is minimal and rewards good.
3, Write good content with good grammar as this does help a lot for the reader. There is nothing worse than a spelling typo and bad grammar to place your article in jeopardy.
4, Keep up the process, it’s simple and easy to do and cost nothing at all but a little time. You can use article submission services to make it easier. Submit Your Article is one I can recommend.
5, Here are a few sites to get you started:

EzineArticles.com
GoArticles.com

ArticleDashboard.com

SearchWarp.com

I know this post is quite short in comparison to the whole topic (maybe I should have called it part 1?). If you want to know more look out for an email in a couple of days as there is a new guide due for release. Or let me know and I will create part 2

*Update*

Maybe this is coincidental but my good friend and mentor John Thornhill has today finished a new product all about Article Marketing. Within his brand new product John explains how he generates between $10 – $500 every month from each article he has
published!

Now I was going to create a 3 part series on my blog about this but John seems to have it covered all in this product. Yeah I was a little annoyed because I wanted to provide you with the content myself, but for $10 John has it all covered HERE

If you have anything to add please comment  :-)

Hi Dan,

Great post about article marketing. A lot of people thinks that article marketing does not work anymore, after submitting 3-5 articles and they got no or slow result, they simply give up. Article marketing really works for me, it is surely slow in the beginning, but once you have 100+ articles, you will start to see a steady flow of traffic. I usually write and submit 5-10 per week very consistent, and it’s giving me decent result. =)

Thanks

Gary

This is going to be really useful info for me so thanks for sharing!! I haven’t yet used articles to drive traffic but it’s going to be one of the free traffic driving methods I’ll be testing out over the next few weeks.

Thanks,

Hi Dan,

good article; people do look on the internet for information, and articles written with enthusiasm and good content get noticed and feed that need. Thanks for sharing this and reminding us of the value of articles. It needs to be on my list for the coming week too! I’m off now to sharpen my pencil and add to list…need to take a leaf out of Gary’s book. Consistency!
