Your online business does not have to be just an online product business just as John Thornhill proved this week. Your online business can sell physical items as well as digital.
If you missed what happened earlier this week John posted an eBay auction selling all of his products and some valuable extras which would help any future or existing internet marketer build their business empire.
As most of us know eBay have some strict rules regarding the sale of digital items so you have to place all of your digital material on a CD and sell it as a physical information product.
This is exactly what John did! By simply burning his existing products to CD/DVD John had an instant ‘Firesale’ built within minutes and I mean minutes! The time it takes to copy and paste your product folders, burn to disk, setup your auction page and a short getting stated guide to go with the product takes no time at all to complete. You can have your own firesale on eBay consisting of all your existing products or PLR Products in no time at all.
How Will This Benefit You?
Obviously you need exposure to your firesale and your list alone may do the trick if it’s big enough. However you can get added exposure from eBay especially when the listing comes near to the end as it will be seen from the listings ‘Ending Soonest’ category. Also by selling a limited amount you create urgency to buy, which will also aid in selling your product faster.
Why sell only a limited amount? Why not keep the auction running?
1. When your listing comes to an end you may still have guys asking for the firesale who missed it? Listing watchers, your email list, new subscribers etc. Granted it may not be a huge amount but these are Fee Free Sales and every sale is a sale! These guys can be dealt with away from eBay via email.
2. Due to the nature of the firesale and urgency it will sell quick, a long term running auction would have been seen before and can be purchased anytime. This can’t!
3. There are no wasted auction listings that don’t sell. This is a one off auction which will more than pay for itself.
What Will You Gain?
• Running this type of firesale will most certainly increase your subscriber base due the exposure from eBay.
• Anyone can do this. You don’t need to have a massive list to do it. You can utilise PLR Products to create a similar firesale in no time at all with very little effort.
• Exposure from other marketers:
If you are on my mailing list you will have noticed that I sent a courtesy email to alert my subscribers of the auction. If you have an auction of great value, then it’s definitely worth contacting other markers in your niche to take a look at your action. If they like it they may just spread the word?
Maybe by now you are thinking what was in it for me alerting my subscribers about John’s auction? In a word NOTHING, I found the product valuable and thought my subscribers would find it helpful… It’s that simple.
Not everything must be about money, just remember that it’s good to help others. The returns can come back to you when you least expect it.
It’s been a while since I spoke about eBay and how you can use it for a quick sale. It’s good to see they still work!
Have you ever thought about boxing your own products orPLR Products up and selling them as a package or fire sale?
Have you had any success from it?

I have been online marketing since early 2005 where I started selling eBooks on eBay before the digital download ban. Once the ban took effect, I made the decision to take my business online and into general online marketing. eBooks were a good way to build affiliate revenue and mailing lists, but it was my blog and online marketing where I found my passion....

Hi Dan
Great post and yet another example of John thinking outside the box. While this is an example anyone with sufficient product can follow the added bonuses that John threw in were quite exceptional. I bought this when John did his first 72 Hours of Madness and was tempted to buy again (managed to resist long enough until all 50 were gone) just for the bonuses.
While few of us are in John’s position regarding the bonuses I’m sure if we put our thinking caps on we could come up with our own ideas of REALLY unusual worthwhile bonus offers.
Best regards
Doug

Hi Daniel,
Great post again, I think you’re right in saying ebay does hold a lot of potential for anyone looking to build their list up.
In saying that I never seem to get the time myself to use it to it’s fullest.
I thank you for your earlier email, I went ahead and purchased johns package on ebay, there’s a lot for the price.
By the way you’ve changed your theme, very nice looking blog.
What theme is that, or maybe you don’t want to give that away

Hi Eamon,
Welcome back it’s nice to see guys taking my advice. Don’t forget to use the time to call John and get the most from your package. The information you get will be invaluable. If I could offer a little advice it would be structure your questions before hand you have for John.
The theme I am currently using can be found here: http://www.srssolutions.com/en/downloads/
I have edited it a little but it’s more or less the same. I won’t have it for long as a change is on the way
Thanks for stopping by and your comments!
Hi Daniel, another power packed post.
I did see John’s auction but didn’t buy as i’ve bought most of the items before, and not for the price they were on the auction…grrrrr.
I’m also a member of PLR Monthly and I am building my business very nicely as a result of that. Like you said Daniel, it takes a few minutes to burn them to disc and stick a label on.
The added beauty of selling our products on disc is that I can add so many extras to the disc: My products with Resale rights and affiliate products etc etc
You made a very good point about a limited Number of items for a limited time, i’ll have to bear that in mind for my collection (when i get that far).
Thanks for another excellent post Daniel,

Hey Barry,
Welcome back! and thanks for the great comments as usual.
Just imagine how much value you could pack into a firesale every 6 months or so! You could add lot’s of your own products, interviews, information, PLR and more. The more you add the more it will grow, the more value you can place on the item!
BY limiting the items and only advertising 50. You will generate urgency and I guarantee everyone will want it
Do you like the new look PLRM? We have added squeeze pages and sales pages now! We are also soft launching next month again so et your affy link out again:) PLUG!
Hi Daniel, yes the new PLRM is great. You’ve done a very good job on it. Look out for next weeks blog post

Hi Barry,
Cheers that’s good news. Please let me know if you need anything from us.
Hey Dan, thanks for bringing attention to my auction. I had a lot of reasons for running this auction, some of which I will reveal to my subscribers next week. However, you’re right in saying anyone can do this, with some imagination and a collection of plr or resale rights products this is something anyone can have success with.
Hi JT,
Thanks for the comments and I look forward to the new product.
It;s true what you say anyone can have a package of material as firesale or an opt-in offer/landing page as a bonus.
Cheers
Hi Dan,
great advice as always, there is always something to think about, your e-mails are one of the few (very few) that I always open, There is soem potential for eBay sales and this is where I am heading next in my online business, I have been selling other products on there for years. Si its now time to take the advice and tap into another stream of revenue.
Cheers

Hey Dan,
Thanks for another of your great and timely hot off the press post. John, you and other John’s inner circle successful marketers always put emphasis on re-purposing contents adding value for greater, long lasting benefits.
We all learn more and more through sharing of knowledge with fellow marketers. More often the not, some of us need reminders on the exponential power that lies dormant in our works done in the past.
John’s fire sale this week is another testament of what he teaches us on Masterclass and beyond. His approach of leading by example on everything he believes in is a gift by itself to us all.

Hi Syed,
Exactly! right. Remember not so long ago Dave Nicholson and I held our PLR Monthly Firesale. These sales miaximise revenue and like you say, get the most from your products.
Cheers
Very informative post about taking your business to the next level! It’s true what you said about helping other and the return will come when you are least expected. It’s really worth it in the long run too.. I hope someday I can take my business even further to offline and maybe provide some sort of online marketing service in the local area.
Hi Justin,
It’s actually not that hard to move your business online in the local area! Just last week I built a website for a local company and offered them some marketing consultation. The rewards were quite good too. All you need to do is simply ask around, I think you will be surprised by the results.
Thanks for stopping by and for the comments
You are taking online business to another level with both digital and physical products. I have had some success with half.com selling books and some stuff on craigslist.
Hey Justin,
You seem to have your fingers in more than one business pie
nice to see you are doing the same and doing well. I have not been blog hopping for a bit, but I’m on my way to your blog now for some comments.
Cheers Justin
